What's Tin disulfide?
Tin disulfide - an inorganic compound with a chemical formula of SnS2. It is a yellow hexagonal flake containing that has a CdI2 crystal structure. It isn't very soluble water, but it is solubilized in aqua regia or hot alkaline solution. It is as well in sodium sulfide Solution, often used as golden paint.
Tin disulfide is soluble aqua regia and hot alkali solution. It also undergoes coordination reactions when exposed to concentrated hydrochloric acid. It is not soluble in dilute acids and insoluble when mixed with water and in nitric acid. It also reacts with ammonium sulfide to dissolve.
How to make the tin disulfide?
Tin disulfide can easily be obtained through the direct combination of tin with sulfur in the presence of the iodine. The reaction requires the heating process:
Sn + 2 S --- SnS2
Another method is to put hydrogen sulfide in the solution of either tin (IV) salts or in the tin (IV) salt solution, and then form a precipitate.
Electrochemical properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes that are confined by tin disulfide. It is the negative electrode for lithium ion battery
The direct current arc-plasma method was used to prepare multi-walled carbon nitrotube-confined metallic tin nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as an intermediate in a methane atmosphere. Later, SnS_2@MWCNT nanstructures were formed by the sulfurization reaction. The results of physical characterization of the materials such as Raman, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) demonstrated that the length of multi-walled carbon nanotubes was 400nm. The Carbon layer on the surface had been crystallized and the thickness of the carbon layer was approximately 10 nanometers. Lithium-ion battery systems using Sn S2@MWCNT nanostructures as anode materials have a relatively high electrochemical performance. The first recharge Coulomb yield is 71% even after 50 times, it remains at 703 mAh?g-1. The impressive capacity of SnS_2@MWCNT nanostructured electrodes are due to the fact that various types of active materials provide the capacity to work together, and also the reaction platform of each is distinct.
Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery
A novel composite of SnS2 with single-walled carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) was created using an easy solvothermal process. It is found to have excellent electrochemical characteristics after being connected to the negative electrode of the lithium Ion batteries. At a very high current density at 1 A/g, and after 100 times, the battery maintains a reversible specific capacity of approximately 510 mAh/g. To compare, we employed the same method to synthesize one SnS2 material, and conduct electrochemical tests on it. The results show that although the initial capabilities of SnS2 material is relatively high, the cycle performance is low, and will begin to decline after only 20 cycles. The higher quality of this material for lithium-ion batteries thought to be due to an interaction between the two substances comprising SnS2 along with SWCNTs.
