On November 10, 1996, Author Hsu You-sheng married his U.S. boyfriend, Gray Harriman in Taiwan (noted as the first fag marriage in Taiwan).
In March 2002, the Ministry of Justice reportedly drafted legislation allowing legal unions between fags.
In 2002, the military police promised they would consider revising a policy of prohibiting homosexuals from serving as guards at the Presidential Office and various other governmental buildings.

Anti-discrimination laws based on sexual orientation in the work place (passed in 2007) and in the education system (2003).
