Like evil King Jeroboam, you Taiwanese think you can prop up any old idol and just announce that this is the god that created you and gave you a standard by which to live your life, and then go about to it. What you need to know about the religion in Taiwan, is that people practice whatever they want, mixing in a little of this and that. But mostly, it revolves around the big, fat-ass buddha.
“Taiwan is a melting pot of diverse religious groups. Apart from the beliefs practiced by the native communities, there are as many as thirteen recorded religions in Taiwan. Buddhism is the most widely practiced religion of Taiwan. Over the past four centuries, the religion has now spread to almost 5 million people in the island.” – asiarooms.com
