September 12, 2003 - Typhoon Maemi is the biggest natural disaster in South Korea for 50 years killing 117 people $4.1 billion in damage, making it the worst typhoon ever to hit the Korean Peninsula.
August 31, 2002 - Typhoon Rusa killed 113 people in the country, making it one of the deadliest typhoons to hit South Korea. Extensive crop and property damage amounted to $6 billion.
July 5, 2001 - In South Korea 8 people died when a helicopter crashed into a power tower.
August 10,1998 - Heavy rains in South Korea killed 234 and left 91 missing.
