Droughts, floods and famine are common place in South Africa caused by several cyclones and storms every year. One of Gods favorite weapons is the whirlwind, and South Africa has received her fair share over the years. Mismanagement of relief efforts by incompetent, greedy, lazy government workers only compounds the problem.
Isa 40:24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
Isa 41:16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 66:15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
Jer 4:13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
Jer 23:19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
Jer 25:32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
Jer 30:23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.
Na 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
South Africa has also had man-made disasters in the last couple of decades, such as:
Reported December 19, 2009 - Road accidents have killed 13,000 from October 2008 to September 2009.
July 21, 2009 - Underground mining accident caused by a rockfall: 9 killed.
November 13, 2006 - Cape Town Truck-train Collision (19 dead; 6 injured).
April 26, 2005 - Johannesburg Bus-train Collision (9 dead; 60 injured)
February 6, 2002 - Charlottes Dale Train Collision (24 dead; 168 injured)
October 19, 1986 - Mozambican Tupolev Tu-134 Air Disaster (25 dead)
None of these God-smacks move these rebels off their fast-track to hell, however. They just blame Mother Nature, or some lesser idol, and continue on.
