While many from this island claim to be either: Christian (think Catholic Pedophiles); Muslims (think Muhammad raped babies); or Hindus (think anything goes, it’s all good) the majority of all of them practice Malagasy mythology. That means they worship the dead and carefully follow after their ancestors (not unlike Doomed americans and their genealogy clubs). They will do several of the following things, but are certainly not limited by anything which might keep them from being necrophiliacs if they want to (well they might need to wait until they are 21 years old, is all). 1 Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
Get ready for this, and tell me if you see some more similarities between Madagascar and Doomed america: 1) They believe there is a link between the living and the dead, and believe the dead join their ancestors in the ranks of divinity and ancestors are intensely concerned with the fate of their living descendants. 2) They will practice reburials or “turning over the dead” also called “tomb building” or famadihana - where they will make some fancy silk shrouds (can you say american flags) and dig up or remove from the tombs the dead bodies and rewrap them then have a big celebration where they cart the dead body around up over their heads and such and then redeposit the carcass in the tomb/grave. They have lots of singing, dancing, rum and local foods in abundance, inviting local and nearby villages to come and celebrate. No doubt there are speeches (they are a very oral history type people) about the dead person; local musical groups are invited, too. When it is dark, I’ll bet they light candles (they learned that shtick from the other religious brutes – or did the Catholics learn it from them?) 3) The various villages might have a really powerful person who establishes a fady (can you say veterans memorial?) which all the descendents have to “respect” well after their death. That means if you are traveling in Madagascar it is advisable to seek out the village elders or authorities and make sure you do not inadvertently transgress and offend the local population. You know that WBC members would be immediately arrested, killed or worse if we visited with any truth from God in that evil land. Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
