June 27, 1999- Mass graves were discovered in Kosovo with as many as 10,000 buried in 95 grave sites. This GodSmack was discovered on the heels of, and resulting from, the “Kosovo War” of 1998-1999. This was just 17 days after NATO stopped bombing on Yugoslavian targets. (Background information:  Yugoslavia was a federal republic of 6 countries, including Serbia and its autonomous province of Kosovo, for much of the mid-20th century in Europe. NATO bombed Yugoslavia because Serbia refused to stop repressing the Albanians and the Kosovo Liberation Army, which campaigned through terrorism to create an independent Kosovo free from Serbian control. In response, the Serbs sent its military and air force, “slaughtering hundreds of [Albanian Kosovo] civilians and sending tens of thousands of refugees into flight for safety,” which prompted the NATO air strikes.)
