Honduras' Evil Government

Honduras' Evil GovernmentHonduras is a democratic republic where the President is both the head of state and the head of government.  The President is elected by popular vote for one 4-year term only, without the possibility of re-election.  Legislative power is vested in the National Congress of Honduras, and the Judiciary is independent of the other two branches (though its members are appointed by the Congress).

The current President is Porfirio Lobo Sosa, and he took office on January 27, 2010.  On June 28, 2009, the prior President, Manuel Zelaya, was ousted from office by Congress.  He had announced his intention to organize a non-binding poll on holding a referendum to convene a constituent assembly to rewrite the Constitution.  The Supreme Court upheld a lower-court injunction against the poll which Zelaya ignored, resulting in the Court issuing a secret order for his detention.  He was arrested and put on a military plane which flew him to Costa Rica.  That is how they do business in Honduras.

Honduras has been very active in politics of Central America, and its government provided bases for the U.S.-backed counter-revolutionary armies operating in Nicaragua in the 1980’s.  Apparently the news that GOD HATES AMERICA has not reached Honduras; otherwise, they certainly would not be allies with a nation that has made God their #1 enemy.  Or would they?
