Ecuador is governed by a democratically elected President, for a four year term. The current constitution was written by the Ecuadorian Constituent Assembly elected in 2007 and supported by President Correa.  The Constiution was approved by referendum in 2008.  As noted previously, this perverse government is one of only a few that put in their constitution the absolute right to sodomize each other.  Article 67, section 9, grants the right "to make free, informed, voluntary and responsible decisions about sexuality and one’s life and sexual orientation. The State must promote access to the necessary means for these decisions to be made safely."
