For a country with only 14,500,000 and a landmass the size of Nevada, Ecuador has distinguished itself as only the third country in the entire world to guarantee civil rights for homosexuals in their constitution. 

Ecuador affords homosexuals all the rights of marriage through civil unions.  See Luke 17:27.  Also, according to Wikipedia and Gaytimes, a fairly large gay scene has developed in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador and many gay bars, restaurants, hotels and saunas have now opened for the homosexual connoisseur.

The age of consent in Ecuador is 14 regardless of gender or sexual orientation.  That means your average Ecuadorian 8th or 9th grader can legally consent to sexual perversion of both the heterosexual and homosexual variety.  This is one of the youngest ages of consent in the world, particularly for homosexual sex.

It sucks to be a kid in Ecuador (literally) in that it is a source and destination country for children and women  trafficked for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. The majority of trafficking victims in Ecuador are believed to be children trafficked from coastal and border areas to urban centers for sexual exploitation.
