The Dominican constitution guarantees freedom of religion.  All religions are tolerated, but the state religion is Roman Catholic, with 95% of the population being Roman Catholic.  For most people religious practice is limited and formalistic.  The people respect the advice of their local priest or bishop with regard to religious matters.  Sounds like a cult to me!
