Burundi’s history has been filled with violence and corruption. Burundi became free on July 1, 1962. Since then the country has been destroyed by the two major conflicting political parties, the Hutu and Tutsi. These two groups of people basically make up the whole population of Burundi. Mwami Mwanbutsa IV was named the first king of Burundi. Then, on September 18, 1962, just over a month after declaring independence from Belgium, Burundi joined the United Nations. At first Burundi was a constitutional monarchy. The Hutu and Tutsi had equal power in parliament. This didn’t last long because God has cursed this nation for not giving Him the glory.
The Hutus took control of the country, killed thousands of the Tutsis, and caused many Tutsis to flee to Rwanda.
Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Power shifted from the Hutu to the Tutsi over and over again with lots of bloodshed between each time. An estimated 250,000 people were killed between 1962 and 1993. This evil government will never learn. On August 26, 2005, Burundi elected a new president by the name of Pierre Nkurunziza. Pierre claims to be a born again Christian. Yikes! This country is one of the poorest nations in the world. 80% of the population lives in poverty. Because of this, Burundi requires foreign aid. God hates Burundi and has proven it by causing it to be controlled by people who are divided among themselves so that there is always confusion and war. If Pierre would use his power to lead the country in service of God and praise His name, Burundi wouldn’t be in so much trouble. God has cursed you, Burundi! God Hates Burundi!
Deuteronomy 31:29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
