God's Wrath
Revealed Against Burma
2010 – April – Three blasts ripped through Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, during a water festival which was part of the New Year celebration, killing at least 20, and injuring another 70.
2008 – May – Cyclone Nargis struck Burma, killing 80,000, injuring another 50,000. The devastation was so enormous, the secretive military junta asked for international help, which was almost unheard of. People were left without shelter or food, and their living conditions including available water exposed them to high rates of disease.
2006 – October – Flooding in Burma left 57 dead and thousands removed from their homes. About 10,000 people had to seek emergency shelter, with desperate villagers piling whatever possessions they could carry into canoes as floodwaters submerged homes.
1988 – after excessive increases in the cost of living by the ruling military, an uprising was attempted; at least 3000 were killed and many more disappeared or were imprisoned, squashing any attempt to dissent.
1962 – A bloody coup resulted in a military government that cruelly rules to this day.
