The government system in Bolivia is a republic. On August 6, 1825, Bolivia gained its independence from Spain, however, their legal system is based on Spanish law and Napoleonic Code. Today, they have a constitution, they elect a president, and have a bicameral legislature. The president is both the chief of state and head of government. Evo Morales is the current president, who is holy in his own eyes and trying to start “social movements” in Bolivia.
