God's Wrath
Revealed Against Afghanistan
Life Expectancy – The life expectancy of an Afghanistan citizen is just 44.6 years, nearly 30 years less than that of people in the U.S. or other developed nations. That is a tell-tale sign of the wrath of God abides on this nation.
Infant Mortality Rate – Infant mortality in the Afghanistan is one of the highest in the world. If you are an Afghan infant you only have a 62% chance on average of making it past your first birthday.
Literacy Rate – The literacy rate in Afghanistan is estimated to be below 50% (for women it is thought to be below 20%). Part of the reason for this is that a majority of the schools in Afghanistan were blown up and otherwise destroyed during the civil wars. Many Afghans receive no formal schooling and even those in the military cannot read or write.
Great poverty – The poverty of Afghanistan should not be underappreciated. It is one of the poorest nations in all the world. The nation has virtually no economy, no education, no infrastructure, and no skilled workforce. Guess what? Decades and decades of war and idolatry will do that to you - God has done that to Afghanistan. Recent reports show that more than 50% of the population live in extreme poverty. One-third of all children are undernourished. Beggars are everywhere in Afghans’ few major cities.
Totally Ineffective and Cohesive Government – The ineffectiveness of the Afghan government is legendary. Why is this so? Here is a simple reason. When all you look out for is your own financial and political gain the effectiveness of the government comes in a distance second.
Earthquakes, Floods and Other Natural Disasters Common - Afghanistan is a country prone to a number of natural disasters including earthquakes, floods, drought, landslides, and avalanches. Afghanistan is located in a zone of high-seismic activity. Given the rugged and mountainous nature of the country and the location of villages, towns and cities, there is always a high propensity for widespread death and destruction whenever an earthquake, landslide, mudslide, avalanche, or flooding occurs.
Since the 1980’s natural disasters in Afghanistan have killed 19,000 people and displaced 7.5 million people. Just since 2000, there have been nine earthquakes in Afghanistan killing some 1,223 people. Decades of war and conflict, as well as environmental degradation, have significantly contributed to the vulnerability of the Afghan people to natural disasters. Several assessments by the humanitarian agencies have revealed significant shortcomings in the areas of water, sanitation, health, security and natural resource management. Furthermore, the high level of poverty, lack of livelihood and income generating opportunities, chronic health problems, and poor state of the infrastructure all add to the burden of natural disasters on the people of Afghanistan.
Man-made Disasters: The number of manmade disasters such as truck bombs, fires, suicide bombings and war are so many and varied it really needs its own website just to list all of these. One source says that there have been more than 600 suicide bombings in Afghanistan. Suffice it to say that over decades of war and conflict hundreds of thousands of Afghans have died and the normal infrastructure necessary to support cities and a country have been destroyed thus submerging Afghanistan in poverty and desolation.
